For those of you who don’t know, Alex is a professional jet ski racer who has won numerous world championships, including the 1994 Philippine Championships in Cebu; the 1995, 1996 and 1998 Malaysian Championships; the 1995 Korean Championships in Pijin; the 1996 Australian Championship in Queensland; and the 1998 Asia Pacific King’s Cup in Songkhla, Thailand.
He is a music enthusiast, and in 2003, he released his first album, No Reason, which received three nominations at Anugerah Industri Muzik - Best New Local English Artist, Best Engineered Album and Best Music Video. And he was also the opening act for of INXS Switch On World Tour in Kuala Lumpur in 2006.
Then earlier this year, he released his second album called [hey], which featured a heart-wrenching, emotional song, Seventeen, and a remake of Mungkin Nanti by Peter Pan, One Day; and both the songs top the Malaysian English Top 10! The album was mainly recorded in Los Angeles, with most of the tracks written by Alex. He strongly believes that a song should connect with the listener, and he certainly did!
The good news did not stop there, when he was informed that two of his songs from the album, Still the Same, and Light Fades, were selected as soundtracks for a Hollywood film, The Third Doorway, starring Gary Dourdan (CSI: Vegas), due to be released this year.
Alex is also an avid photographer and has taken photos for numerous events, and one of them the F1 race, where he published all his pics in a book called F1by2, with text by longtime F1 stalwart Matthew Winter who has worked with Benetton and Toyota F1 Teams. He is currently Honda driver, Takuma Sato’s commercial manager.
