2008 Half Cooked

June 30th, 2008

It’s already the end of June, half way through another fantastic year so I thought it’d be a good idea to have a ponder upon what I have been through these past 6 months.

New Year’s Eve was a quiet, good dinner with some very close friends and a heavy drinking night at Mojo to welcome this fantastic year.

January then took me to Kuala Lumpur for a very short trip mainly to get some clothes, and to meet some bloggers I have not met before. It was also a good catch up with the Sarawak Convention Bureau commercial production crew.

Ivan the Gecko came back and we took a trip down to Bau (the mysterious town of Borneo) and did a video that attracted quite a number of ’sex in kuching’ searches to my site. January was also filled with wedding photojournal shootings and learning a whole lot about photo editing at the Alvin Leong Studio.

In an attempt to ease out of my holiday mood, February was mostly the catching up jazz and a relax and unwind time, like taking a trip to Santubong at 4.00am in the morning to catch the sunrise, meeting my “grandfather” for the first time, and spending Chinese New Year in bed (read: sick!).

February was also packed with lots of drinking, and almost a night out every weekend. There were a lot of meet ups from breakfast to lunch, dinner to supper. Myra was back, and a few of us met Robert from UK who works in Kuala Lumpur and was in Kuching for a holiday, so we hung out for a bit. Alvin was generous enough to spend two days doing a studio shoot with me and the whole Alvin Leong Family, which serves me good memories.

I bid farewell to Kuching and left Alvin, Chris, Alwyn, Niggy and some of my friends who came to send me off at the airport, and said hello to Adelaide for about 4 hours (and caught a few winks) before I was scooped to the airport to fly into Sydney for the All Inspired Summit 2008, one of the richest experiences I have had in my life, sharing a meeting room with the CEO of Macquarie Foundation, Cathy Freeman, Ben Darwin, Jack Heath, Kerry Graham, and over 100 other inspiring supporters, donors, staff and young people from all walks of life of the Inspire Foundation.

And there was also the Thank You Event, which was a rewarding experience mixing around with prominent leaders and people from the society, as well as just with other Youth Ambassadors, and young people I haven’t met. I also manage to catch up with Little Miss May for a hearty breakfast before I left Sydney.

The accidental March had me accidentally deleted my blog, but thanks to Bryan, most of the posts were saved, except those posted at the end of February and in early March. I can’t even remember what happened then, but some of those that I remember was my first meeting with uJun, another Adelaide blogger.

And a getaway to Mount Gambier, 5 hours drive away from Adelaide.

April was a wet month, and quite an emotional one as well, but there were still a number of interesting happenings like the controversial April Fool’s post, meeting one of the most beautiful person in the world, and hearing her inspirational stories, and running away to Melbourne for a good 7 days for lots of good food, meeting Wuching for the first time, and catching up with the other Youth Ambassadors and some other friends.

Have I mentioned the Melbourne trip was mostly filled with good food?

Easing out of the holiday mood at the end of April was difficult, but nonetheless, come May, Nat came avisiting from Sydney, I crawled through about 5 pubs, and celebrated Mayboo’s grand entrance into the adult world - 21!

Of course, there was a day dedicated to the lady of my life.

Eddy from Sydney literally dropped by Adelaide for a night, and there was a good catch up, together with some good Thai food and good chocolate.

June was a rather random month, with no chocolate, no travelling, but still it was a good month nonetheless. I spent a weekend at Ben’s wonderful home, which was possibly one of the best weekends I’ve had in my life, and one of the most beautiful place I’ve stayed in. Then there was steamboat and some ‘wii’ fun at Danielle’s place. And pretty much, that’s it.

Of course, June also marks the unavoidable, very much dreaded exams I am going through right now.

Looking forward to a very eventful second half of the year!!
